External access to the MyChat server core is required to connect client applications for Windows, macOS and Linux operating systems.

If you have correctly configured port mapping (port forwarding etc., the names may differ in the admin panel of your router) for the specified TCP port, and everything is fine with other ports, but MyChat Server core port  is unavailable, check the following:

  • The 2004 TCP port can be closed by a firewall or antivirus on the computer with MyChat Server;
  • you configured port forwarding incorrectly. For example, you "listen" to TCP port 10004 at the router's input "outside", and forward it to TCP 2004 inside the local network. This is not correct, the port cannot be changed "on the fly";
  • there are several network interfaces on the computer with the MyChat server, you mistakenly enabled binding on one of them, and you redirect traffic from the router to another interface;
  • in MyChat Server Admin Panel, the section IP filters, incorrectly configured rules for incoming connections;

What to do?

Check all of the above items one by one, usually this is enough. After changing the network settings, restart MyChat Server because some of the settings cannot be changed on the fly.

You don't need to disable Windows Firewall and/or Antivirus. You need to properly configure them to ensure that MyChat works smoothly.
